University of Chicago Failed to Distance Itself from Olmert’s Criminality

Recently, the University of Chicago invited former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert to speak at the Harris School of Public Policy for its annual leadership lecture. In light of the UN Human Rights Council’s Goldstone report implicating Olmert in war crimes, many in the Chicago community were appalled and formed a coalition demanding the school cancel the event and withdraw the invitation....

Amendment to Michigan Rules of Evidence discriminates against Muslim women by allowing courts to limit traditional dress
The newly adopted amendment to Rule 611 of the Michigan Rules of Evidence (MRE 611) is constitutionally questionable. The portion at issue reads:
The court shall exercise reasonable control over the appearance of parties and witnesses so as to (1) ensure that the demeanor of such persons may be observed and assessed by the fact-finder, and (2) to ensure the accurate identification of such persons.

CAIR-CHICAGO MEETS WITH FIRED SWIFT WORKERS
By Denise Booker – Members of a Muslim advocacy group said they will be filing discrimination claims against the JBS Swift Meat Packing Plant in Grand Island. It all stems from a prayer dispute between Somali Muslim workers and the company last month.
Chicago based representatives from the Muslim Advocacy Group were in Grand Island Tuesday and earlier Wednesday morning.

Christina has spoken and written on issues related to Arab and Muslim civil rights, and actively works to pursue successful resolutions to incidents of discrimination through legal and non-legal channels. Christina is also a member of the Advisory Board for the Chicago Committee to Defend the Bill of Rights and a member of the Advisory Board of the BRussels International Tribunal. Christina holds a Masters in the Arts of Social Sciences (M.A.) at the University of Chicago where her focus was on Politics in the Middle East, and a Juris Doctorate at DePaul University where she received membership in the Order of the Barristers.
